Griffins NEWS Issue 5 2008
President’s Message:
Hi everyone, another house league season has come and gone, the competitive season is almost over, much to the chagrin of all of us. This has been a very busy year with new people to the executive, new website, and taking the competitive players out of house league from Novice to Intermediate. With these changes comes growing pains and we have had our share this year but we will have an improved association in the long run as a result of everyone’s hard work.
I would like to thank all the coaches, assistant coaches, team managers, trainers, parents and most of all the kids for making this past year a success. I thank my fellow executive members for all the hard work and the long hours put in year round to make the association run. Without the volunteers we would not be able to do this every year.
We will have a survey for everyone to fill out and submit, which we will use to improve the association even more. Please take the time to fill it out as it is for everyone’s benefit.
Our Annual General Meeting will be coming in early October and I encourage everyone to come volunteer, vote on constitution and policy changes, volunteer for executive positions and vote in the executive members.
Thank you,
Stephane Collins
President
Gloucester Minor Lacrosse Association
VP House Message:
We have come to the close of our 2008 GLA house league season. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who volunteered their time and effort to make our 2008 season a success. I would also like to thank you the membership for being so patient and understanding with the executive knowing of all the new improvements that we have been trying to implement throughout the 2008 season.
With the 2009 season fast approaching, the GLA executive will be working hard at making it run as smooth as possible. We are working towards getting the wrinkles ironed out to be more user friendly for you the membership.
Please check the website for a summer survey, the GLA executive values your opinion and input on way to make the season another great success.
Again I would like to thank all you,
Have a great summer and see you all in 2009

VP Competitive message:
We find ourselves a little over a week away from the start of the provincial championships that are a part of the Ontario Lacrosse Festival www.ontariolacrossefestival.com and I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all on a successful competitive season. Many victories came our way with most teams picking up at least one championship banner while taking part in the Peterborough, Caledon, Cornwall, Gloucester and Nepean invitational tournaments.
Our goal for the Griffins competitive lacrosse program is to reach elite status in the province and as a result we will be challenging for provincial titles annually at all levels. We need your feedback on ways we can improve our product. If you have suggestions, would like to volunteer or become involved with Griffins lacrosse please contact me at vpcompetitive@gloucester-ottawalacrosse.com
On that note of feedback you will soon receive an evaluation form sent from your team manager. This is an evaluation of your head coach this season. Please take the time to complete this form and submit back to me.
Good luck to all the Griffins teams in the coming weeks……and thank you to the families and volunteers who have made 08 a great season.
